Jon Miles Ray and I, Charles Simon Banks, first met in San Antonio, Texas, in 1984 at MCC (Metropolitan Community Church), a Protestant denomination known for its LGBT-affirming ethos. After attending several services, a mutual friend invited us both to dinner. This marked the beginning of our relationship. We dated for several months, fell in love, and on November 30, 1984, we purchased a home together.
There is much more to our story, but we knew from the start that it was meant to be. Although we were legally married on May 17th 2013, we continue to celebrate our anniversary on November 30th
We got married at the Southampton Town Hall, which was formally the elementary school Jon attended. This historic landmark was built in the 1920s as a Colonial Revival School Building.
This website and my work in genealogy have been a labor of love. Through research, I feel I’ve brought our ancestors to life and created a meaningful legacy. I hope you enjoy exploring it as much as I’ve enjoyed creating it.
