- SEE SHORT BIO & CHILDREN IN "A Hallock Genealogy," p. 410. Son of William and Margaret (?) Hallock. Born About 1658 And died about 1737. Md. Abigail Swazey about 1678. Children: JOHN II, b. 1679. PETER, b. 1689. WILLIAM, b. 1695. MARY (md. Willets), b. 1696 JONATHAN, b. 1698 BENJAMIN, b. 1700. This source alleges there were 10 daughters and Mary is the only one whose name is known. Other sources give names but are they correct? "Four Willets brothers, sons of Thomas & Dinah Willets, of Syosset, L.I>, md. 5 of these sisters, as follows, but we do not know the names of four of them: Richard Willets md., first, a daughter (see evidence in his file, no longer thought to have 1st married a Hallock daughter). and, second, the widow of John Powell, who was another daughter (AKA Margaret) Amos Willetts md. dau Mary about 1717. He married again, Rebecca Whitson. Thoms Willets md. a dau. (AKA Catherine) Isaac Willets md. a dau. (AKA Clemence) The controlling influence in this interesting incident seems to have been that they were all good honest Quakers. John Hallock and his wife, Abigail, were active members of the Society of Friends, much to the displeasure of his father, WIlliam, who gave vent to this displeasure in his will. They settled at Setauket, L.I., in Brookhaven Town. Their graves are marked by small stones, rising little above the ground in the Friends corner. In Lucius H. Hallock, "A Hallock Genealogy," "An attempt to tabulate and set in order the numerous descendants of Peter Hallock.... The foundation of this work was laid by Rev. WIlliam A. Hallock. D. D., who published his "Hallock Ancestry" in 1866. The same being extended by his Nephew Charles Hallock, M. A. to the year 1906."
