Apparent wife shown in 1840 census, but not in 1850; HOWEVER no wife named or dower release in 1830 & 1840 deeds from John Ray, implying no living wife. Wife may have died prior to move to Mississippi Territory and female shown in census' could have been live-in servant or (as yet unknown) female relative. Miles Ray suggests name may have been MARY PATE, married 31 Dec 1813 in Columbia Co, GA, though this would have been but 1 1/2 months prior to birth of son, Andy.
