Hubbard, in his HISTORY OF NEW ENGLAND, says that Roger Ludlow was a brother-in-law of John Endicott. The will of Philobeert Cogan of Chard, Co. Somerset, gentleman, of Feb. 10, 1640, proved April 12, 1641, mentions daughters "Mary Ludloe and Elizabeth Endicott." This gives us probably the names of the wife of Roger Ludlow and of the last wife of Gov. Endicott. In the VISITATION OF SOMERSET, under date of 1623, we learn that Mary, daughter of Philobert Cogan and of Ann, daughter of Thomas Marshall, was nineteen years old in that year. She was born therefore in 1604, and was fourteen years younger than her husband Roger Ludlow,, who was baptized in 1590. When she married Ludlow is unknown, but it was probably before 1630, when Ludlow accompanied Winthrop to New England. Children were: i. Jonathan LUDLOW was born after 1630 in New England. He died after 1655. He has reference number L1A6R5. ii. Joseph LUDLOW was born after 1630 in New England. He has reference number L1A6R6. iii. Roger LUDLOW was born after 1630. He died after 1655. He had livery of his brother's lands 8 April 1296, and having served in the wars with Scotland, was summoned to Parliament 10 March 1307/8 to 10 October 1325, by writs directed Willelmo le Botiller (or sometimes le Butiller) de Wemme, whereby he be held to have become LORD LE BOTILLER. Note: Note: He married 1stly, before 1298, Beatrice, who was living in I305-06. He married, 2ndly, before February 1315/6, Ela daughter and coheir of Roger OF HERDEBURGH. He died 1334, before 14 September. | 777 | Nathan resided in Westhampton. Jerusha was living at Beaverdams (Westhampton), according to the 1790 Census. By his father's will, Nathan was to inherit "all his lands and meadows in Apocock Neck, one right of commonage in the West Purchase, from Apocock Neck West and half a lot in Cedar Swamp, Riverhead". Nathan and Jerusha are said to have been buried, without tombstones, on Apaucuck Neck, Westhampton. Apaucuck Neck is west of Beaverdam Stream, which was called Pocock River in old deeds. Nathan apparently left no will, but the testament of his widow, Jerusha, May 24 1801, proved August 26, 1809, names her daughters, Phebe, Mehetable, Martha and her heirs (Lib. "and land at Duxburrow for her bringing up of her and my Children the time of her life and after her decease I doe give the aforsaid lands to my eldest sonn and heire apparent Nathaniell Brewster and in Case god should take him away out of this life without Issew I give and bequeath the said lands at Duxburrow to my second sonn Willam Brewster."[1] He lived in Duxbury and died there in 1676. His nuncupative (oral) will was made in the presence of Benjamin Barlett, and proved Nov. 2, 1676. Bartlett encouraged Nathaniel "to settle matters relateing to his worldly estate." Nathaniel "said that if it should please God to take mee away after my debts be payed, I will Give all that I have to my wife; this land heer is none of mine, to dispose off; Butt there is some att the falls that shee shall have"[1] This statement indicates that he had a wife, but no issue of his own, since without issue the land he lived on would revert to his brother, William, on his demise.[1] Robert Vixen, was appointed administrator of the estate and a Robert Hickson married a Sarah Brewster Sept 26, 1679.
